A fine author of dark, pacy and compelling stories that encompass themes of contemporary teen issues, thanks to your votes and nominations we are delighted to crown James Dawson as Queen of Teen 2014 – the award’s first male winner!
Having grown up in West Yorkshire, James began his literary journey by writing imaginary episodes of Doctor Who, later turning his talent to journalism, weekly serial writing for a Brighton newspaper and teaching, specialising in PSHCE and behaviour. Now based in South London, James, author of Hollow Pike, Cruel Summer and Say Her Name, has crafted a recognisable style of writing that is as intense as it is spellbinding.
Dedicated to celebrating the authors from the world of teen fiction, in James Dawson the Queen of Teen award has yet another worthy winner to add to its ever-growing list of past victors including Maureen Johnson, Cathy Cassidy and Louise Rennison.
