
Born in Bath, Jacqueline Wilson spent most of her childhood in Kingston-on-Thames.
She always wanted to be a writer and wrote her first 'novel' when she was nine.
She started work as a journalist in Scotland on Jackie magazine.
She has been writing full time ever since, and has become one of Britain's most popular authors of books for children and teenagers.
Jacqueline's bestselling books include The Story of Tracy Beaker, which became a BBC TV series, The Illustrated Mum, winner of the Guardian Children's Fiction Award, Double Act winner of the Red House Children's Book Award, Candyfloss, Kiss, My Sister Jodie and the Girls series. Her books have been successful all over the world.
Jacqueline Wilson was made a DBE (or Dame) in 2008 and was Children's Laureate from 2005-2007.
In February 2010 Jacqueline was named the most popular library book author of the last decade!
